Dungeons
Characters and Living Elemental

These are other
figures I've completed from the Mage Knight plastics. On the left,
we have Locksmith Karg, a Troll rogue, then a Living Elemental which
is part of the Golden Legion, and on the right we have Joram Hawklord.
The Living Elemental was a rather easy paint job that I am very happy
with. After being based in Chaos Black, I dry brushed his lower body
in Snakebite Leather, letting the paint fade as I went up his body.
I then drybrushed his upper body in a mix of Camo Green and Dark Angel
Green, letting it fade as I met the Snakebite Leather. Gold was then
drybrushed on his stumps to indicate his rank.
For Locksmith Karg, my intent was simply to clean up the poor paint
choices I felt that Wiz Kids had made for him. His boots were nearly
the same color as his skin, making him look like he's in short pants
with metal bands around his legs for no reason. He's also a fairly
lightly colored figure to be representing a rogue. So I moved him
to Chaos Black, Regal Blue, Scab and Blood Red and got, in my opinion,
a more interesting looking figure. Somewhere along the line, years
ago, I had seen an illustration by Phil Foglio (see his stuff at www.airshipcomics.com)
which had a woman with red skin and white hair, and I decided to imitate
that on Karg. Regal Blue was used as a base to give the hair shadows
and depth. His weapons are Boltgun Metal, and his pouch is Snakebite
Leather.
Joram Hawklord was simply an attempt to distinguish some of the details
of the character. I really like the figure, and I like the color choices,
by and large. The paint job simply an attempt to clean up the original
paint job. The reds are based in Scab and higlighted in Blood, and
his cloak and helm tassel are Regal Blue highlighted with a mix of
Skull White. All of his gold was based in Golden Yellow, then covered
in Burnished Gold. I might repaint those to make them look less yellow
and more gold in the future.
